紫檀有许多种类，紫檀生长速度缓慢，5年才一年轮，要800年以上才能成材，硬度为木材之首，系称“帝王之木”，非一般木材所能比。

书箱是指盛书的箱子，此箱子整体用紫檀木做成，其箱盖雕的是喜上眉梢，梅花为四君子之一，是文人喜爱的题材，十年寒窗就犹如梅花一样，要饱经风霜才能盛开，功成名就之时，就如这一喜鹊飞上枝头，称为人中之龙，拥有着至高无上的荣誉。

书香为长方体，共分为三层，其盖以木刻画来体现其美感，提梁为官帽提梁，两挂耳为如意头形蝙蝠状，意为富贵如意，升官发财。
